This beautiful example of Russian lacquer comes from the village of Kholui, by Russian artist Koroleva. It depicts a Russian maiden at her dressing table, resplendent in a beautiful gold-trimmed gown highlighted with an elegant gold kokoshnik on her head. Koroleva's flawless line-work is evident in the Czarina's face and hands as well as in the beautiful hanging jade curtains. Also noteworthy is the attractive detailing Koroleva has painted along the borders of the box.
