Truly a master artist from the village of Fedoskino, Aldoshkina is world renowned for her delicate miniatures, of which these one-of-a-kind boxes are a wonderful example. Aldoshkina's flawless line-work is evident in both the hair and the hands on the figurines. Elena uses oil paints, gold foil and mother of pearl inlays to create her works. Also noteworthy are the shimmering emblems, which Aldoshkina has painted along the borders of the boxes. These are painted by utilizing tempera, a special mixture of gold-dust, crushed egg shells and water.
