This beautiful hand-painted Russian lacquer miniature was created by the famous artist Lapshin in the village of Palekh.

The Big Wheel reveals a friendly astronomically inclined mouse deep within the magical forest of Northern Siberia. The bespectacled scientist is out to prove that the large wheel in the sky is in fact 100% cheddar cheese.

Of note in The Big Wheel are the golden lines and details around the box. Each shimmering line is a striking example of Lapshin's usage of tempera, a special mixture of gold-dust, crushed egg shells, and water.
