This beautiful hand-painted Russian lacquer miniature was created by the famous artist Zhukova in the village of Fedoskino.

In this unique work, Zhukova has created a miniature of the Russian masterpiece Thri Bogatrya or The Three Soldiers. The three subjects are scanning the hills outside of Moscow, circa 1300, for the marauding soldiers of Genghis Khan.

In the middle is Ilya Muronetz, to the right, the young man is Alyosha Popovich, and to the left is Dobrinya Nikitich.

Noteworthy in The Three Bogatyrs is the golden detailing on the top and edges of this beautiful piece. This shine is due to Zhukova's usage of tempera, a special mixture of gold-dust, crushed egg shells, and water.
